The season of wedding and ceremonies is on in India. After the most awaited engagement of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, another high profile wedding took place.

On 9th 2007, March Business tycoon Arun Nair tied the knot with British Actor and model Elizabeth Hurly. After a Christian wedding in London the couple flew to India to have an Indian Traditional wedding. They landed at Mumbai along with Hurly’s four year old son a week before the function. What followed was a trail of ceremonies beginning with the high profile party thrown by Nair’s friend in Mumbai.

The venue for the 2 million sterling pounds wedding was the Mehrangarh Fort at Jodhpur, Rajasthan. A hoard of guests started arriving at Jodhpur many days in advance. 347 rooms of Umaid Bhawan were booked for the wedding guests. There was a high security arrangement within one kilometer of the venue of marriage since days in advance which meant that the wedding as well as all its arrangements would be out of the general public as well as the media’s reach. Maharaja Gajrajji II earlier this week said that the couple were his personal guests and he would make the arrangements best to his abilities.

Though there were news of actor Hugh Grant and singer Elton John’s attending the wedding, but neither of the two did. However Grant, Hurly’s boyfriend of 13 years was a part of the secret wedding in London where Elton John was the best man. Player David Beckham who was expected also did not become a part of the wedding due to a painful knee injury.

The wedding however was a lavish affair with Nair wearing a white bandhgala suit designed by Rohit Bal while Hurley wore a red sari designed by Donatella Versace.

Despite the little scuffle between the press and security guards during the wedding, it ended to be a delightful affair where the couple got married for the second time in a week.
